CBCP – Narcotics Anonymous Partnership to Help Drug Dependents

Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines

Circular No. 16-07

Your Eminences, Your Excellencies, the Reverend Administrators:

At the Permanent Council meeting held last September 13, the offer of Narcotics Anonymous Philippines to enter into a partnership with the various ecclesiastical circumscriptions in the Philippines in view of helping drug addicts find new ways of life as productive members of society, was presented and received unanimous approval.

Narcotics Anonymous is a worldwide fellowship of men and women who have found a new way of life away from the use of substances.  It is completely free of charge and has helped so many worldwide not only with abstinence but with a viable support system to live soberly.

On behalf of the CBCP Permanent Council, I heartily recommend that the archbishops and bishops of the Philippines establish linkages with Narcotics Anonymous Philippines so that we can provide a holistic viable alternative to the rehabilitation of substance abusers.

You may contact Erick Aguinaldo through 0917 866 3834 or Richard Saul through 0918 810 0585 so that we can open diocesan linkages with Narcotics Anonymous and offer new hope for our brothers and sisters in substance abuse hoping to start anew.

I trust that we share a common understanding that drug addiction is a sickness and it is our duty as pastors to give them the pastoral love of the Good Shepherd himself.
