History

Familia started in 1993 as a family life apostolate of Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon Community (LNP) – a covenanted Christian Community in Metro Manila founded in 1975.

LNP’s experience in the family life renewal dates back to 1980 when it started an evangelistic program directed towards Christian couples.   Since then LNP has had a fruitful ministry in family life. It has served many dioceses in the Philippines and other countries.

Familia started in 1993 with an official recognition in the Archdiocese of Manila by Bishop Teodoro Bacani. Since then, Familia has spread out and gained acceptance on other dioceses throughout the Philippines. Registered with Securities and Exchange Commission in 2001.

Organizational Structure The Familia Community is governed by a Board of Trustees comprising 5 members.
Composition of Membership Under the Executive Committee is the National Mission Team (headed by the Executive Director), composed of all Sector Heads, Mission Heads, and Singles Heads. Under each Sector and Mission Head are the Area Heads and each area is composed of Parish Chapter Heads who handle Homecell Heads. And every homecell head handles a group with a maximum of 5 individual members or 5 couples.
Main Activities
  • Participants take a 10-session course divided into 3 modules called Empowered Christian Living Seminar (ECLS).
  • At the end of the seminar, committed participants are brought into small groupings called Homecells, meeting of which is once a week.
  • After the ECLS, the members are provided sustaining and life-giving Christian teachings among which are:
    • Our New Way of Life
    • Spiritual Gifts
    • Freedom in the Holy Spirit
    • Marriage Enrichment Retreat / Singles Enrichment Retreat / Women’s Recollection
    • Evangelism Training
    • Christian Personal Relationship, etc…
Areas Present Metro Manila: Diocese of Cubao, Diocese of Antipolo, Diocese of Parañaque, Diocese of Manila. Provinces: Baguio-Benguet, Pangasinan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna, Batangas, Quezon, Camarines Sur, Albay, Northern Samar, Misamis Oriental, Davao del Sur, North Cotabato.
