On the Recent Statement of the Archdiocese of Caceres

Beloved People of God,

Peace in Christ!

We are deeply troubled to receive  the statement from the Archdiocese of Caceres dated June 19, 2018, that a priest is reportedly being alluded to as a person of interest in a gruesome death of a victim last June 15 at San Fernando, Camarines Sur.

We offer our prayers for the victim and deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

We support  Abp. Rolando Tria Tirona, Archbishop of Caceres, the priests, consecrated persons and lay persons of the archdiocese, in their quest for the truth on this very serious report so that justice may be served.

STATEMENT

Last June 15, 2018, a victim was found dead at San Fernando, Camarines Sur. We are shocked and saddened by her gruesome death. We sympathize with the family and we are one with them in the search for truth and justice.

We are deeply troubled that, in media reports, a priest has been alluded to as a person of interest.

We hold the report very serious.  The Archdiocese supports the thorough investigation of the case by the proper authority and will fully cooperate in all aspects.

The Archdiocese, at the moment, is conducting its own investigation and will take appropriate action in accordance with the Code of Canon Law.

At this time that we are searching for the truth, we ask for prayers and prudence.

We assure the family of the victim of our prayers and support in the search for justice.
