Institute for Pastoral Development Courses for Church Workers

Greetings of peace in this Season of Advent!

For the past 35 years, the Institute for Pastoral Development (IPD) has been empowering the laity, clergy and the religious for effective service in the mission of the Church. To date, IPD has trained over 10,000 people in Scripture-based study, leadership, evangelization, community building, and parish management. Participants came from dioceses, parishes, religious communities, and the public and private sectors.

As we approach the 500th year of Christianity in the country, IPD offers its services to the dioceses in helping the empowerment of its leaders through its various programs and other customized courses which address the training needs of the diocese. Below are some of the programs that we offer.

STEWARD LEADERS TRAINING (SLT)

As an inside-out approach to leadership, this course aims to develop in the person habits and and attitudes necessary for his total growth. Participants will have the chance to formulate their personal mission statement, practice win-win negotiations, role-play effective teamwork, put order in their personal lives, and strengthen values that are helpful in their ministry.

BASIC ECCLESIAL FACILITATORS PLANNING WORKSHOP (BEFPW)

The BEFPW planning process discerns God’s direction in relation to the over-all vision of the Basic Ecclesial Community Formation Team and the team’s successes and high potential. Plans are then designed and sustained by choosing and committing on actions that move the community forward and towards the vision.

TRAINERS DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

The course includes the principle of adult learning, analyzing training needs, formulating training objectives, making training outlines, choosing training aids and & training methods, acquiring facilitation skills, and ways of dealing with problem situations encountered during the training process.

JOY OF DISCOVERY IN BIBLE STUDY (JOD)

This is a skill-oriented course that will enable participants to discover the meaning of a text in Scripture and apply it in their lives. It follows a programmed approach to help participants through a step-by-step learning process.

JOD TEACHER’S TRAINING COURSE

This course teaches participants the important principles and methods necessary to teach the JOD method to others. Participants will discover for themselves, not only the techniques, but also the attitudes on how to teach the Bible using the JOD way. Most of those who have taken this course have already started to teach the JOD method to others in their areas.

SOCIAL MEDIA FOR EVANGELIZATION

This workshop will teach the participants different techniques on using social media to proclaim the Word of God online and to create materials with evangelistic content.
