The People’s Choice Movement (PCM), an ecumenical Christian group of individuals, joins all the democratic groups and forces in commemorating the 47th Anniversary of the declaration of the brutal Marcos Martial Law.
We remember this day in 1972 when Marcos and his cronies, with their armed goons in the police and military institutions began the systematic tortures and killings of thousands of Filipinos, destruction of the economy, and suppressing the freedom of speech and assembly of Filipinos to demand good governance for the country to attain genuine progress and sustain a just and humane society.
We especially commemorate the selfless and courageous struggle of the Filipino people, particularly the youth, to dismantle this unjust and brutal Marcos dictatorship from 1972 onwards till the phenomenal Edsa People Power Revolution in 1986.
Today since 2016 under this virtual dictatorial regime, the Filipino people have had to suffer more than twenty-thousand incidents of killings, the trampling of the country’s sovereignty by China, more endemic corruption in government, promotion of fake news, the suppression of the freedom of the press, and the rampant violations of the rule of law and the constitution, among other impunities.
In response to this continuing massive violation of the people’s right to good governance, the People’s Choice Movement joins all patriotic democratic organizations and forces in condemning all these injustices committed by this administration and to pursue more vigorously the call for Truth, Justice and Righteousness in government.
And most especially at this time to recognize and honor the victims of the Marcos Martial Law regime, and to continue our struggle to fight and achieve our vision of “A Philippines run by competent, dedicated and law-abiding SERVANT-LEADERS who will govern our country in accordance with God’s teachings and the principles of good governance where people are enlightened, empowered and live in comfort, dignity and peace.”

Solidarity Statement of People’s Choice Movement

The People’s Choice Movement , is a movement of Christians – Catholics, Protestants Evangelicals etc. We therefore, believe and obey the teachings and commandments of God. We also stand for Democracy and our constitution.
We expect our public servants who also believe in God to respect God’s will and the will of the people who have entrusted to them the implementation of the laws of our land.
We reject the return as well the militarization and it’s expansion in several parts of our country and the killings that is now happening.
We support our youth in their desire for a better life, freedom of speech and our media that thruth may prevail in our country and NOT LIES and that they can have a land that they can still call their own and where they can raise a new generation of Pilipinos.
We call upon all Christians to unite and join the democratic
and Christian forces to stand for our God and country.
Let’s bring the light of Christ in the dark clouds that hover over our country
at this time.
