Pananawagan – A Call to Prayer and Action for Love of God and Country

Circular No. 20- 50

Dear Brother Bishops,

Papal Awardee and National Artist Ryan Cayabyab, also the renowned composer

July 25, 2020 of the music for the national theme song for the 500th Year of Christianity, is working on a video project entitled, “A Call to Prayer and Action for Love of God and Country”, which is inspired by our recently published Pastoral Letter.

We recommend that we have it posted on the FB pages, websites and other social media platforms of our dioceses, prelatures, apostolic vicariates, and the parishes, schools, and other institutions under our jurisdictions. The date of public release via FB is on July 26, Sunday, from 10:00 am till 1:00 pm.

We commend this initiative of our Catholic Laity in the field of performing arts, to translate in art form the spirit of the Pastoral Letter and Call to Prayer, which we released on the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, July 16, 2020. Let it be part of the conscience formation which the Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI, refers to as the essence of the Church’s mission to evangelize politics: “To form consciences, to be the advocate of justice and truth, to educate in individual and political virtues: that is the fundamental vocation of the Church in this area (of politics). And lay Catholics must be aware of their individual responsibilities in public life, they must be present in the formation of the necessary consensus and in opposition to injustice…”

Fraternally yours in Christ,
