Only 12 Years Before Tipping Point of 1.5 Degrees Celsius is Reached

According to a report of experts and scientists of the United Nation last October 2018, the people of the world must adopt innovative actions, shift values and influence radical change otherwise global warming will arrive to the point of no return.

During the COP 24 in Poland just this December 2018, the issue was fiercely debated and the findings were ignored by rich countries. This amidst the lamentations and experiences of poor and smaller countries. The cries of the poor were ignored to make way for economic profits.

Nevertheless, the concerned citizens of the world will not be ignored. They are now coming together to creatively prevent global warming knowing that, while government leaders are slow to act due to interests, an awakened citizenry can transform the political arena. The world is now in danger.

The call to ACT varies from each and every personal commitment. On a personal level, the birth of Jesus empowers me to double up my commitment, to sound the alarm bells that all—no matter the age, religion, political colour, status in society—have to prevent that global warming does not reach 1.5 C.

Everyone of over 100 million Filipinos can do something

Starting with:

1) Garbage segregation to promote recycling;
2) Living a simple lifestyle and reducing the use of non-biogradable like plastic;
3) Influencing friends and others to adopt a pro-environmental attitude;
4) Organizing people or joining groups to lobby government for environmental policies be it at the barangay up to the national level;
5) Campaign for the candidates who are environmental at heart and in action;
6) Calling out to God, in whatever name, to save the world.

Our strength is in coming together.

Last January 2018, a group of pro-environmentalists met together with Bishop Broderick Pabillo, Yeb Saño and myself as convenors to form the URGENT INITIATIVE.

We invite you to link with us. It is a venue for sharing initiatives and doing what we can together.

BE INSPIRED TO VOLUNTEER.

12 years is short and this task looks impossible to accomplish, but with God everything is possible. We need volunteers to share time, talent and treasure. What we are is a gift from Nature.

Mag-balik handog and become stewards of Nature. This is a Thanksgiving Prayer to the Creator.

YOU ARE INVITED.

On January 8, 2019, from 09:00 AM to 05:00PM, there will be a planning workshop of diferrent groups: 1) Elderly, 2) Youth, 3) Urban Poor, 4) Religious, 5) Priests, 6) NGO’s/CSO’s, 7) Media and many more. Venue somewhere in Cubao, QC to be announced.
