Invitation to Sept. 21 Mass and Rally

September 11, 2018

To: All Laiko Members: National Lay Organizations & Arch/Diocesan Councils of the Laity

Dear Brothers & Sisters,

The peace and love of the Lord!

Forty-Six years ago, martial law was declared in our land. The years that followed were the darkest moment in the history of our country. Even today, the horror and injurious effect in our political, social and economic life can still be felt.

Moreover, while we have not been totally liberated from that horrid experience, an impending danger of having it imposed once again is a clear and present danger that all Filipinos must thwart. Now more than ever, we need to express our disdain and stand firm against human rights violations, historical revisionism, and the restoration of the Marcoses to positions of power.

In this light, the Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas, the Association of Major Religious Association of the Philippines and other cause oriented groups are organizing a Eucharistic Celebration for the intentions of our country on September 21, 2:30 p.m. at San Agustin Church, Intramuros, Manila as well as join the United People’s Action, a coalition of cause-oriented groups in a grand rally at the Rizal Park (LUNETA) right after the Mass. May we request then all organizations to actively support these noble undertakings by sending sizeable delegations.

Once again, we count on your active support for the love of our Country.

Thank you.

Sincerely yours in the Lord’s service,

JULIETA F. WASAN, Ph.D.
President
